Children's Rights

I think one of this biggest issues with the issue in Sudan as that children are being recruited into different militia groups. Currently, there are over 30 armed militia groups in Sudan. The UN has identified over 12 of whom have violated children's rights through physical abuse, murder, and sexual violence. One way to possibly stop the violence is through helping the children of Sudan. Many of them are being kidnapped and brainwashed into becoming militia men and dying at very young ages. If these militia groups continue to recruite these children, there would be no end to the number of militia groups in Sudan. By cutting of the militia groups' ability to recruite children, their forces will be weakened.

I agree with Will in that this is a very serious issue in which needs to be dealt with in order to effectively end the genocide. My only comment is that in order to end the violation of children's human rights you need to deal with the situation of the genocide as a whole and not just specify as too the children. When you deal with the situation as a whole and put preasure in the right places things like this will go away as the situation is absolved.

I kind of disagree with nick. Genocide is such a huge issue to tackle, I think since not much progress has been made in terms of taking down the entire operation, it might be beneficial to try a new strategy in terms of attempting to attack the problem from various areas at once, but on a smaller scale. Possibly by addressing the issue of child militias, as well as looking into divestment and sending in peacekeeping troops AND various relief forms, we could be more effective in getting rid of it.
