Dut Deng's Visit

I would just like to thank all of those who got Dut Deng to our campus. I really enjoyed his speech and what he had to say last night in school house. I think the entire school reacted very well to the whole situation and seems like everyone is willing to help him. Now that everyone has a taste of what is going on in Sudan i think it would be a good idea to do another fundraiser for Sudan, instead this time we support Dut Deng and his clinic. I would be willing to help with this one of someone would like to help me organize it. Maybe a jeans day or something this spring?? If anyone has any ideas let me know. I feel that the campus would be much more supportive now that they have met an actual lost boy. Again thanks to those who brought Dut Deng.

I think that is a really good idea. And I would be willing to help organize something with you. We could do a few things like a raffle and jeans day or something like that. I was really impressed with the turn out of people at 9:15 so i think we could raise a lot!!

LETS MAKE T-SHIRTS. we could have a jeans AND t-shirt day.

beau--are you still interested in doing like a jam for sudan fest kind of thing? even if we couldnt get an actual band maybe we could just get campus bands to play and then sell things on the quad and just raise awareness...im still a fan of that idea if people want to organize it with me..

also another idea that never happened was a 50 - 50 lottery, i know mr travelstead checked into whether it is allowed as a fundraiser here, but he never got back to us so it could still be a good idea.
im game for raising more money, because considering the amount of money that flows through the campus daily, 1500 is sort of pathetic... i mean we were about a third of the way towards digging a well - thats it.
do you guys think it would be a good idea to open this fundraising up to the school? i dont if GIN is still happening but it would draw the same crowd.

I like all of those ideas, i think a Jam For Sudan would be really cool. We could invite bands from around the area or an actual legit band to play. WIth that we could do t-shits and and a loterry like anna said. Problem is we dont have much time. If you guys have any ideas for a concert let me know!
