In an article that came out today on bbc it discussed the lack of commitment that countries have had in support of sudan and stopping the genocide. it even brought up the scary thought that the peacekeepers mission could be a failure. Troops were suppose to be leaving in the next 6 weeks, but it doesn't look promising due to lack of supplies needed. I found it interesting that yet again the UN was missing another deadline, but its not just their fault, the Un works smoothly when everyone works together, but clearly that is not what is happening.

i agree with phoebe that the lack of support is scary, but that is one of the problems that i see with international politics. there are so many different viewpoints that, even though its scary, its difficult to all countries be one the same page. i think something will happen though, someone will step up

i agree that it is difficult but isnt that the point of the UN? to make it easier to cooperate and find out where everyone stands on global issues in order to combat them more effectively?

Yeah i agree with both of you guys, but i think the major problem is the lack of commitment, the U.N spent a long time trying to make a solution that China would agree with and now that they finally have, Not one Country is willing to donate.

maybe they shouldnt try to serve to these countries and try to see what is best and just do it. dont cater to China and the United States, but cater to the countries that need support. they should sanction countries that dont support the UN's decisions, which would piss countries off, but make the UN's bills effective
